About CleanWebTools

CleanWebTools provides focused browser utilities for common web tasks: converting Base64 images, decoding JWTs, formatting JSON, converting Markdown, generating hashes, and creating copyable Unicode text styles.

Why it exists

Many online utility sites are useful but cluttered, unclear about privacy, or spread one task across generic pages. CleanWebTools is built around single-purpose pages with clear titles, readable explanations, examples, and browser-based workflows.

Local-first tools

Tools marked as local process their input in your browser. That means conversion or decoding does not require uploading the pasted text or selected file to a CleanWebTools server. This is especially important for JWTs, Base64 images, Markdown drafts, and hash input.

How we choose tools

Every tool here must solve a specific real task, work without an account, and keep the local-first promise where practical. Each tool page includes worked examples, step-by-step usage, and an FAQ, and our written guides go deeper on the tricky parts — base64url pitfalls, password hashing, timestamp bugs — rather than padding the site with generic pages.

Editorial and testing notes

Guides are written from implementation and debugging work, then checked against primary references such as RFCs, MDN, OWASP guidance, browser behavior, and small reproducible code snippets. When a number or behavior can drift, the guide calls out the source or the test method so readers can challenge it instead of taking a generic claim on trust.

Corrections matter. If a tool output, source link, browser behavior, or security note is wrong, send the page URL and a short reproduction to the contact address below. We review those reports before adding new tools.
